Term 2 Week 10 : Easter Term

Dear Year 1 Josephian, Parent/Guardian,

Yesterday, the SJI Open House drew large crowds to the SJI campus. Heartfelt thanks to all students and staff members for making this day so special!

As we recall all that has happened in the past five months and look forward to our well-deserved June holiday, we would like to thank you for all your patience and kind understanding. Credit must be given to the vast majority of Year 1s who have settled well into school life and have put in much effort and have obtained commendable grades. For a handful of Year 1s, we look forward to working with them so as to help them achieve their fullest potential for the next semester.

What's most important is that we affirm these young men for their efforts and teach them the value of hard work, or for some of them - the lack of it. We need to let them know that no matter what happens and regardless of their results, we will always be there for them. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing all of you for the Parent Teacher's meeting on Fri 26 May 2023 at 1430. Do drop your son's subject tutor/s and/or myself an email if you have any other queries. However, I do seek your patience in giving us some time to get back to you ... ...

Wishing everyone a Blessed week and happy holidays!

Term 2 Week 7 : Easter Term

Dear Year 1 Josephian, Parent/Guardian,

On Founder's Day, at mass, the celebrant, Friar Michael D'Cruz invited us to be mindful of the needs of others before ourselves, and Guest-of-Honour Mr Lawrence Chan (Class of 1984) asked us to give thought to our "Branding" as Josephians (Lasallians) This is indeed an opportune time for self-reflection on the daily decisions we make - have they been helping us do our best as a child of our parents; student in SJI and a friend?

Tomorrow, May 1, marks Labour Day, also known as Labour Day recognises the contributions and accomplishments of all who work.  Continue to keep all the teachers and staff in school in your prayers!

Wishing everyone a Blessed week ahead!

Registration will close on Sunday, 30 April 2023.

Term 2 Week 6 : Easter Term

Dear Year 1 Josephian, Parent/Guardian,

This weekend, SJI wishes all Muslims, "Selamat Hari Raya, Aidilfitri!".

This week, SJI Celebrates Founder's Day. It will be celebrated on 28 April, and attire is School Uniform with Tie.

St John Baptist De La Salle, the Founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, passed away on 7 April 1719. The school comes together to celebrate Founder’s Day in honour of St John Baptist de La Salle on a Friday closest to his feast day which falls on 7 April. At this assembly, Josephians gather to acknowledge and celebrate the academic achievements of students who have done exceptionally well and to remember the presence of God, thanking Him for all He has done for the school community

Wishing everyone a Blessed week ahead!

Term 2 Week 2 : Easter Term

Dear Year 1 Josephian, Parent/Guardian,,

With the release of the results, please feel free to engage the subject teachers for further conversations if required. Otherwise, engage our young Josephians to understand better how they have been managing their learning. The teachers have been journeying with them on Self-Management skills with respect to simple penning in their diaries, reminders on homework, schedules, etc. In addition, with the extra subjects that have been introduced, they have also been "taught" to keep their worksheets in order, filing them, etc. Do help check in with our Josephians if they have started on this important skill.

Term 2 Week 1 : Easter Term

Dear Year 1 Josephian, Parent/Guardian,,

Time flies, and I hope you managed to have a break with the family. Term 2 is usually packed with events like the SJI Annual Track and Field Championships, with the theme "Unleashing the Athlete Within: Celebrating Sportsmanship and Excellence," an Open House in May, and the National School Games. We look forward to your continued support for the students to participate in the events that have been organised for them.

With the start of a new school term, it would be helpful if you can gently remind and check in that he has completed his assigned holiday homework if any. A quick check on his grooming (e.g. haircut, nails, etc.) will also be most appreciated.

Have a Blessed Week ahead!

Term 1 Week 10 : Epiphany Term

Dear Year 1 Josephian, Parent/Guardian,,

As we end a very busy term for the Year 1 students, we are glad that most have settled well into the new school environment. Term 1 has been especially ‘packed,’ especially for the students involved in Sports and Games with many of the National championships in full swing. Some may not have done as well as expected in the transition but know that they will get there. They do also need time to get used to academic rigour and expectations so the one-week holiday will be a good time for consolidation.

Please contact your son's class and/or subject tutors if you have any concerns. Click <here> for email addresses. We look forward to working with you so as to help him achieve his fullest potential in the next Term Assessments.

Term 1 Week 6 : Academic Updates & Inaugural Assembly

Dear Year 1 Josephian, Parent/Guardian,,

On Friday 10 Feb 2023, we formally welcome our Year 1s, Year 3 scholars, Year 5s, new students, and teaching and non-teaching staff members joining the school. The Inaugural Assembly is the first formal school assembly that marks the start of each new academic year when the entire Josephian community comes together in thanksgiving and prayer. It culminates with the school coming together to celebrate being in a Lasallian community. The theme for 2023 is “Empowering Future-ready Josephians through learning, living, and leading”.

Reporting time is 0730h and Year 1 students will report at the canteen for a light snack before the commencement of the Inaugural Assembly at the ISH. Canteen tables will be labeled for ease of attendance taking.  All students are reminded to maintain discipline and reverence throughout the ceremony.

Blessed and Prosperous Lunar New Year!

Term 1 Week 3 : Year 1 UG Orientation, Initiation Ceremony, Campfire and beyond...

Dear Year 1 student, Parent/Guardian,

With the lighting of the flame over the star, the Josephian Spirit - that flame which burns in every Josephian was lit for the youngest Josephians - the Year 1s. The flame burning on the star (Signum Fidei) reminds us all daily of the calling to all Josephians.

Thank you for your presence at the Year 1 Initiation Ceremony and the Campfire.  More than 700 parents and guests, including old boys and an equal number of current Josephians, witnessed this momentous occasion after a 3-year hiatus due to Covid. Witnessing the Year 1s proudly singing the school songs and cheers with great gusto and deep heart-felt feelings during the Initiation ceremony and campfire will be something that will stay with those present for a long time to come. I was also deeply humbled by the overwhelming support. Your presence at both the Initiation Ceremony and campfire is an affirmation of what we do at SJI and the need always to do them better.

Thank you for helping us make that unique SJI experience so real and alive for your son. As the Year 1 Orientation Programme comes to an end, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for your patience and understanding these past two weeks.

Leaving you with this,
